Elaboration on Pitches/Choice

Hey Blog!
My group and I are coming to finalized our pitch idea for the project. Overall, my group and I picked the best two out of five of all our pitches. Here's a slightly more detailed description of the two pitches we narrowed down to. The first pitch is where there is a story of the main character is and how he/she struggles of being below average height for their age and all the challenges the character faces daily. I've given my group an idea of what we could name the movie: "Below Average" which works because the movie relates to people who struggle with being averagely short in height. The genre of this movie would fall into comedy because although we're talking about struggles of being below average height we want to make it as humorous as possible. The advantages of filming the intro to this film are it's an interesting concept putting the audience through the perspective of someone averagely small. The story would be relatable which would allow the audience to sympathize with the main character. Though some disadvantages include creating a dialogue and continuing the story. Also with locations such as on a school campus, where most scenarios with being averagely short are common with minors and what they face around a judgmental group of people which is common school. Considering we aren't allowed to film on a school campus it'd be difficult to claim a location for that.

The second pitch we came up with is where a girl is addicted to social media, worried about clout. Her peers realize it and are concerned for her well-being. She ends up following a sketchy account which later leads her into trouble, we haven't exactly come up with a creative name for this one but it's an idea. This movie would have a series of genres it would fall into the category of, such as horror, mystery, or action but we're leaning more towards horror. The advantages of filming this movie is unlike the short people concept this would be more of a "coming of age movie" where this is able to portray one of the main issues going on today more commonly in the younger generation. Our purpose for this one is more defined and has a better targeted audience. The advantages of this film would include creating a good story line that doesn't seem too much like a short story allowing us to cut it off with suspense since this is in the genre of horror after all. The best part of would probably be before the main climax, so most of the tension happening in the story isn't revealed and the audience instead is left with a cliffhanger.

The pitch we've decided to is... drum roll, please!!! The social media addiction and we've decided to name it “Socially Trapped” and the finalized genre of this movie will be horror. Going more in-depth, the main character specifically is going to be a girl who has a really bad addiction to social apps such as Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook. Throughout her day she stresses about not getting enough views, likes, the number of followers she has. One day she decides “Maybe with the more people I follow the more followers I obtain” she comes across a sketchy account that dives her into several troubles and challenges she faces throughout the remaining of the film. She goes missing one day and everyone assumes she's been kidnapped. This film we all agreed would probably be the most fun to film, and we believe for us horror is slightly easier to film rather than a comedy. Alright, that concludes another one of my scheduled blogs you guys. I hope you enjoy! See you on the next one bye!
Love, Dee
